    Sound & Vision

Step into the dynamic world of Sound & Vision, where science meets creativity! This hands-on camp explores the fascinating roles that light and sound play in our lives—from the biology of how we see and hear to the art and culture that shapes our experiences. Campers will dive into fun experiments with prisms and sound waves, create models of eyes and ears, and design their own interactive light and sound installations to showcase at the end of the week.

Each day blends scientific exploration with artistic expression:

    • The Science of Sight & Sound: Learn how your eyes and ears work through hands-on experiments and model-building. Explore the concepts of refraction, diffraction, and sound waves while discovering how these phenomena shape our daily experiences.
    • Light & Sound Experiments: Use prisms to split light into rainbows, compare different light sources to see how they affect mood, and create simple sound wave experiments with string phones and water jars.
    • Music, Art, and Culture: Dive into the cultural impact of light and sound by exploring music videos, movie soundtracks, and visual art. Learn how artists and filmmakers use light and sound to evoke emotion, and experiment with your own pastel drawings and GarageBand compositions.
    • Create Your Own Art Installation: Collaborate with peers to design an interactive light and sound installation that evokes a specific mood or emotion. Use lights, music, and visual elements to bring your creative vision to life and present your work at the end-of-week showcase.
