Sports Science
Get ready to sweat, learn, and have fun in Sport Science! This dynamic camp combines physical activity with scientific exploration, teaching kids how their bodies work while they play sports like tennis, basketball, soccer, and more. Through hands-on drills, strength-building exercises, and performance analysis, campers will not only improve their athletic skills but also understand the science behind movement, nutrition, and fitness.
Each day features exciting sports sessions, fitness challenges, and science-based activities:
- Day 1 (Tennis & Plyometrics): Learn tennis techniques like forehand and backhand swings, explore plyometric exercises, and discover how explosive power improves performance.
- Day 2 (Basketball & Core Development): Practice dribbling, shooting, and layups while learning how muscle groups work together in basketball. Finish the day with core-strengthening exercises.
- Day 3 (Badminton & Balance): Master badminton fundamentals, improve stability with balance drills, and explore how agility enhances athletic performance.
- Day 4 (Soccer & Nutrition): Hone your soccer skills with passing, dribbling, and shooting drills, and take a guided nutrition tour to learn how healthy foods fuel athletic success.
- Day 5 (Volleyball at Kits Beach): Head to the beach for a day of volleyball, fitness games, and final reflections on how sport science shapes athletic performance.
Campers will:
- Participate in daily sports drills and games that enhance athletic skills.
- Learn about the science of exercise, including muscle groups, energy systems, and nutrition.
- Engage in plyometric and core development exercises to build strength and flexibility.
- Create blog posts reflecting on their physical progress, techniques learned, and health insights.

PLEASE NOTE: Pear Tree’s healthy Hot Lunch Program is mandatory for this course, as food is provided throughout the week. Therefore, an additional $80 must be added to the camp price.
