Pear Tree Education has become one of Vancouver’s most popular educational summer camp companies, both because of the quality and diversity of our courses. Our wide range of course types will engage your children in new and challenging activities, including cooking, sports, music and dance, drama/public speaking, technology, art/crafts, and academics.

Pear Tree Education is offering the ultimate in White Rock summer camps for boys and girls aged 5-14.

We have summer camps at our White Rock location for 6 weeks (starting 4th July and finishing 12th August), as well as summer camps in Kitsilano, East Van, North Van, and Burnaby. Individual summer camps last 1 week.

*Note that the Vancouver location offers 8 weeks of summer camps.

All of our White Rock summer camps are designed by Pear Tree.

Led by experienced Vancouver school teachers, our summer camps offer exceptional levels of safety, enjoyment and education!

Camps are from 9am – 3pm, with options to extend these times using our optional pre-camp and/or after-camp supervision services.

At $420 per 5-day camp, you won’t find a better value-for-money summer camp anywhere else in North Vancouver!

We also offer pre-camp/after-camp care ($150/wk combo).

  • Week 1: July 4th - 8th

    Pets (Ages 5-6)

    Kids love pets! But whether they are dogs, cats, hamsters, or fish, owning a pet comes with big responsibilities!

    In Pear Tree’s ‘Pets’ camp, students will learn about different kinds of pets, what their needs are, and how to interact with them appropriately.

    Students will work on amazing mini projects that incorporate science, math, and arts & crafts. Some activities include making pet finger puppets, math games related to feeding and caring for pets, drama activities, reading picture books about pets, and experiments about foods pets like.

    Depending on COVID restrictions, we may invite families to do short visits with their pet.

    Adventurous Athletes (Ages 7-9) 

    Whether you’re already sporty or an aspiring athlete, this week is a great way to get outside with new friends and get moving!

    Each day, there will be skill-based activities related to specific sports, and many opportunities for collaborating with peers. We’ll be playing games like Capture the Flag and California Kick Ball, as well as more traditional sports like tennis and soccer. Not only that, but we will be doing different fitness-based activities to improve our strength and stamina! Each day, different students will have opportunities to model and explain these activities, which help public speaking and leadership skills.

    This week will be held outdoors, rain or shine!

    Summer Camps Vancouver

    MakerSpace (Ages 10-14) 

    In Pear Tree’s Makerspace camp, students work on collaborative, technology-driven projects that require the creative use of resources and multidisciplinary knowledge.

    Taking place over a 4-day week, your child will explore circuits, music, art, and robotics. Some of the technology we will use will include Makey Makey, Little Bits, Snap Circuits, and a Dash robot.

  • Week 2: July 11th - 15th

    Under the Sea (Ages 5-6) – 2 x SPACES REMAINING!

    Pear Tree Education is lucky to be located close to some of the most perfect beaches for beachcombing and exploration!

    During the Under the Sea course, we will explore both local and exotic marine life.

    Each day will include experiments, art, stories, water sensory activities and even drama related to the ocean.

    Ancient Olympians (Ages 7-9)

    In this course, students will learn about Ancient Greek myths and legends, and make connections to how Ancient Greece influenced today’s society.

    We’ll cook food and feast like the Ancient Greeks, create some Greek mosaic art, build a Greek-inspired building and perform Greek Reader’s Theater.

    Our course will be concluded with “Mini Olympics”, where students in the course design the activities for all Pear Tree students to participate in! This is a great leadership and community-building opportunity.

    Sports Science (Ages 10-14)

    Science separates sports amateurs from the professionals.

    At Pear Tree, in addition to playing different sports, students will study and implement sports health and food nutrition, make their own smoothies and health snacks, learn about human kinetics, practice special exercising methods, use technology & apps, and develop their own digital training regime.

  • Week 3: July 18th - 22nd

    Urban Gardeners (Ages 5-6) – 2 x SPACES REMAINING!

    In this course, we’ll give you tips to be a successful gardener in the city. Each day will be filled with different gardening activities, from learning to recognize weeds from plants, to how much to water, to different kinds of seeds. Every day, we’ll spend a significant amount of time outdoors. We’ll also use the flowers we see outside to inspire observational painting, and use our math skills to calculate numbers of seeds we need, or basic plots of the garden to plant in!

    We’ll plan a different seed daily, so you’ll have a number of seedlings to take home at the end of the week. We’ll also visit one or more local community gardens, to learn to recognize different kinds of plants and vegetables.

    Food Glorious Food (Ages 7-9)

    Yes, food is glorious! Vancouver is such a “foodie” city, with so many different dishes and fresh,
    healthy things to eat. In this course, we’ll introduce students to basic nutrition, prepare a dish each class, learn about fitness and healthy living. We will do blind taste-testing, make food art, and even take food photography! Students will gain an appreciation for trying new things and how food impacts their body.

    Graphic Novels (Ages 10-14) 

    Come and experience Pear Tree’s amazing updated version of its already much-loved Graphic Novels course!

    Taking advantage of some amazing changes in technology, your child will get to create graphic
    novels on a level of sophistication never before imaginable and with unlimited potential.

    In this course, we combine literacy, acting, photography, art and technology to create our own high quality digital graphic novels to take home at the end of the course.

  • Week 4: July 25th - 29th

    Interesting Insects (5-6) – 4 x SPACES REMAINING!

    Leave your bug spray at home! Find out how insects are important for our community and environment.

    After making our insect sanctuaries, we will go on daily nature walks and collect insects to observe and research. Some of these insects include pill bugs, centipedes, and ladybugs!

    Our students will also take part in learning about and raising butterflies. The butterflies will be released in the summer as part of an inclusive field trip.

    STEM Challenges (Ages 7-9) – 5 x SPACES REMAINING!

    Join us for a week of fun, daily STEM challenges!

    Using a wide variety of team-based activities, students will work together to solve science, technology, engineering and math-related problems using a mixture of everyday and specialised materials.

    Young Detectives (Ages 10-14)

  • Week 5: August 2nd - 5th (4-day week)

    Super Structures (Ages 5-6) – 2 x SPACES REMAINING!

    Do you like to build things? Are you an aspiring engineer? Then this hands-on exploration course is for you!

    During this course, you will learn basic building principles and apply your knowledge by taking part in daily structure challenges!

    You will learn how to apply critical thinking skills, how to be a creative designer and problem-solver, and apply math, science and design concepts using a variety of building materials, including straws, paper, clay, blocks, K’Nex, Lego and even eggs!

    Connect to Nature (Ages 7-9) – 3 x SPACES REMAINING!

    We are so lucky to live as close as we do to forests and beaches! Connect to Nature is a great course for students who love to spend time outdoors.

    During the course, we will do many Waldorf-inspired nature crafts, play nature games outside, and get some time both in the forest and at the beach.

    Some activities include wood burning crafts, nature mobiles, exploring music and nature, and building mini gnome houses.

    Sound & Vision (Ages 10-14)

    Humans take for granted how important sight and hearing is to their lives both personally and culturally.

    This course explores the huge role that light and sound play in our daily lives and in our society as a whole.

    We will learn about sound and vision from a biological perspective, and make a model of ears and eyes and learn about how they function. We will look at different songs and lyrics, and look at art to see how artists express themselves.

    We’ll do experiments with prisms and sound waves, and work towards making a group light and sound installation for the end of the week!

  • Week 6: August 8th - 12th

    Painter’s Pallet (Ages 5-6) – 2 x SPACES REMAINING!

    As painters, we will have lots of time to try different paints and painting techniques! We’ll work with watercolor, acrylic and tempera paints.

    Our paintings will be inspired by nature, animals, literature, our friends and family, and even the summer weather!

    The young artists of this course will have a small portfolio of art pieces to share with you at the end of this week.

    Marine Biology (Ages 7-9) – 1 x SPACE REMAINING!

    With so many interesting sea creatures and aquatic plants, who doesn’t love exploring beaches?

    With beaches so close to Pear Tree, we’ll have lots of opportunities to explore local marine life.

    As a young biologist, you’ll develop important skills such as observing, documenting and comparing.

    We will also learn about other marine life in other parts of the world, including sharks, coral reefs and jellyfish!

    Film Noir (Ages 10-14)

    Pear Tree is bringing the old with this homage to Film Noir cinema. We have one week to create, film, and edit a Neo Noir movie, and we need your help!

    With movies requiring a massive team, there is guaranteed to be a role for you: live acting, voice overs, directing, filming, editing, music, or writing.

Prices are for 5-day weeks. On weeks with statutory holidays, the price will be calculated for the actual number of days.
